Production has been temporarily suspended on both of our big game hunting newsletters — California Hog Hunter and California Bucks — pending the sale of both publications.
The last issues published were the Vol. 8, No. 3 issue of California Hog Hunter and the Vol. 2 No. 4 issue of California Bucks.
We are working diligently to make sure that subscribers will continue to receive these publications in the near future, once the sale is completed, and that they will receive all of the issues still due on their subscriptions. This process has taken much longer than anticipated, and we felt it was essential to let readers know why there has been such a long gap between issues.
We’d like to thank you for your support of our specialty newsletters, and we will keep you apprised of this process here on our web site. In the interim, we also plan to run news on hog and deer hunting, management, and issues on these pages. Our non-lead section here has the most up-to-date news on lead ammunition rules, regulations, and research. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Jim Matthews. All of his contact information listed in the newsletters is the same, except for the e-mail address. His Earthlink.net and Charter.net addresses are no longer applicable. His current e-mail is odwriter@verizon.net.
Just for Hog Hunters! Welcome to California Hog Hunter. Our newsletter (and this web site) is the No. 1 source for wild hog hunting information in California. While this site is still growing and not all of these features are complete yet, this is what you will find here: Guides & Outfitters: Here you will find information on all of the state’s pig hunting guides and outfitters. Our listing here also has a direct link to their web sites (where available) so you can do hog hunting research on-line from one source. You can download an evaluation form and tell us your experiences – good, bad, or ugly – with your guide, and that information will be posted here and in our newsletter for other hunters to see. Public Land Hunting: On our back issues page, you can download the first four issues of our newsletter – free – and they include maps and details about four of the best public land hog hunting spots in California – and a lot more. Recent issues, still available here on the web site for a modest fee, have covered the public archery hunting program at Lake Sonora, the changes in the hog hunting program at Vandenberg AFB, Fort Hunter-Liggett is covered regularly, and Camp Roberts news is updated regularly. We know many readers want updates on places to hunt boars on public land and we consider that one of our main missions. All the links to these features are below:
